In 1942 during the Battle of Britain, the RAF pilots had an uphill battle against the German Luftwaffe. The British bomber pilots had about a 45% chance of returning from their missions. Their lives were a mixture of waiting around to be sent out, and if they returned, nights at the pub drinking hard, coming back to the barracks at dawn to start another day and another mission.
While watching a documentary about the Battle of Britain, I saw this pilot filmed resting peacefully waiting for the bells to go off. Stenciled on his flight vest was this angel. “That” I thought, “would make an awesome tattoo.”. It took me about a year of thinking about it to finally do it. I took a screenshot of the pilot into a tattoo parlor, and he sketched it out. I asked him to hold it for a day, and went back the next day to do the ink. Now I have my own guardian angel. Which, you all know I have had and continue to need.
