Something I learned today.

Falling in love with someone is easy.

The attraction takes over, the physiology takes over.

All those hormones kick in with a rush.

Touch becomes electric, a meeting of the eyes becomes magical.

The magic of idealization take over.

Falling in love with the right person is far, far more difficult.

Staying in love is the challenge.

About the time that person leaves their wet towel on the bed for the 15th time, it starts to wane.

About the time that person leaves their dirty dishes in the sink when they could have easily washed them, it gets old.

When you realize that they aren’t capable of picking up their dirty laundry, your eyes start to open up a little.

About the time you realize that they aren’t paying attention to what you have to say, only expecting you to pay attention to them, it becomes frustrating.

When the lusts wears off, you start to wonder what you are doing with them.

It’s a lot harder to stay in love with the right person.

One who respects your space.

One who respects their own space.

One who can take care of themselves and you in a comfortable manner.

It takes a lot of work to stay in love with the right person.

There is no fairy tale ending.

Only trust, faith and respect.

And you realize that it’s easy to fall in love, much harder to stay in love.

And you realize, that when it’s time to leave. The only real love you’re going to find is from your dogs.

This is what I learned today, from a very wise person who took the time to teach me.
