LazyDog

LazyDog

I just had lunch at a restaurant called LazyDog. They are a upscale bar/restaurant with a few locations in upscale Chicagoland. The dining room has a seating capacity of 248 and there is an attached covered and climate controlled patio for dogs complete with a dog menu.

I was waiting for a couple friends up by the hostess, both of which I knew, station when a man came in the door with a large Mastiff looking dog. One of the two hostesses said “Hello sir, welcome to LazyDog, let me take you to the dog patio.”. “My dog wants to eat in the dining room.” He announced. “I’m sorry sir, dogs aren’t allowed in the dining room, only on the dog patio.” She said. “My dog wants to eat in the dining room!” he demanded. “If you don’t seat us in the dining room, I’ll have your job.” He said.

I’d had about enough. I ate there often and liked the people. They were all a bunch of nice, hard working kids.

“Hey buddy” I said loudly. He spun on me. “What” he spit out. “Don’t you get it? Dogs don’t eat in the people dining room, either take princess to the doggie area or go home.” I said. “You can’t talk to me that way.” He sputtered. “I can and will as long as you’re being an asshole to the young lady. I’d suggest you go home before they ask you to leave.” I said to him.

He stormed out. Both hostesses looked at me thankfully. “I know you had it covered, I just couldn’t take it.” I said

About that time, my friends showed up and the other hostess took us to our table.
