Happy Birthday Mommy

Lin Livingston,  September 14, 1942 – Current

Happy birthday mommy.

I can’t believe you are still alive.

You had a bottle of vodka a day habit for most of your adult life

A drug habit for the majority of that

And a life so rough that most people would be awed

I’m not so impressed

You were abusive in so many ways, physically, emotionally and all others

You live in your little world now

Blind and cut off

No resources and a helper that doesn’t speak your language

And you won’t learn hers you are so arrogant

You outlived my father, which is a shame

He was a good man and you took him for everything but his dignity

You don’t deserve to live

You don’t deserve to consume oxygen

Yet you do, bragging that you still fit into your 1970s size zero fashion jeans

And your long blonde hair

But what else have you got Lin?

No family left, no friends, no grandchildren, no son. I wouldn’t hit the brakes to avoid running you down in the street

You are living in your own personal Hell

Surrounded by 50 year old furniture you can’t see

50 year old pictures that you can’t focus on

You can’t even cook for yourself on a stove that you can’t see

Oh, but you have a cat

There’s a life. Poor kitty.

Your number in my phone is listed as “Do Not Answer”.

I wonder if anyone will call me when they find your body?
