We were standing in line waiting to get into a room for group.

There was a brick wall to my right.

I was using the brick to file a torn fingernail down since they wouldn’t give me nail clippers. It made sense to me.

I was rubbing the nail back and forth over the exposed brick trying to file down the offending nail.

“What are you doing?” Asked one of the counselors in a concerned voice.

“I’m trying to file down a nail on the brick.” I said.

“Ok.” he said obviously relieved.

“Is there a problem?” I asked.

“Psychotics file down their fingertips to feel something, they leave bloody smears down the bricks.” he said.

“Um… I’m just trying to file down a nail, I assure you.” I said. “They wouldn’t give me nail clippers.”

“I believe you.” he said.
