I have this client; we’ll call her Susan that is in her 80’s and not very computer literate. We’ve had our rough spots, but because of who she is friends with, I will always do my most patient best to help her.
Yesterday, I sent her an invoice for her annual anti-virus. About a half hour later she replied: “Thank you for the invoice, I’ll put a check in the mail tomorrow. I checked out your music and I liked it, but it isn’t my style.”. So, I’m trying to figure out what music of mine she checked out. And then it hit me, my email sig. She looked up the Drive By Truckers song that I quoted. I was floored. So, I emailed back, “You looked up the Truckers song?” and she replied “Sure”. So, I asked her what kind of music she does like. She sent me back an eclectic list of artists from the Mamas and the Papas to Queen to Phantom of the Opera. It just amazed me what you can learn about someone in a quick email conversation and how surprised you can be.
Now I am considering inviting her onto my media server that has about 90,000 music files on it and see if she finds anything on there that she likes.
